Anxiety is the silent killer for productivity and change management. According to WHO it’s affecting 300 million people globally. In the US, 1 in 5 people suffers from it. Last year, in the UK alone, 12.8 million working days were lost due to work-related anxiety, stress and depression.
But how many of the people never reported it or asked for help?
Having anxiety is still unfortunately a stigma at work. It’s something we rarely talk about and often suffer silently even in the top management.
We don’t want to be labelled. We don’t want to be a topic of discussion near the coffee machines.
We definitely don’t want pity.
Hiding anxiety is easy. We cover it under jokes, arrogance or cheerful appearance while deep inside we’re crying for help.
We can feel disconnected and lonely even if we’re surrounded by a crowd of laughing people.
With the constant restructuring, change and pressure, anxiety and stress are becoming a huge, silent problem for the leadership team as well as employees.
We need to do something about it.
Stop anxiety and stress now at the workplace

2. Future of work: Anxiety – the silent killer of change management
Anxiety is the silent killer for productivity and change management in the future workforce.
Higher you get in hierarchy, tougher it is to admit that you can’t handle it, that you can’t cope. Hiding it is easy. We cover it under jokes, arrogance or cheerful appearance while deep inside we’re crying for help.
In an anxious state we become defensive, aggressive and highly political. We screw up the change initiatives. We make stupid decisions.
In this session attendees will learn:
- How anxiety is affecting the future workforce
- Most common reasons causing anxiety at work
- Practical examples on how to deal with anxious employees blocking change initiatives
- How to create a culture that reduces anxiety
- Three, actionable steps they can take straight after the speech
My presentation style is authentic and FUN. I use a lot of storytelling to put ideas in context, humour helps people to relate to it and the format is interactive to help attendees to apply the advice in their own life. They will leave feeling positive, empowered and inspired to put what they learned in practice straight after the conference.

Testimonials – here’s what event organisers have to say:
Pauliina took on the huge challenge to chair the first ever Women in Shipping conference in Asia. She helped us to deliver an amazing program, tons of inspiration and view from outside of the industry.
Her presentation on confidence was so insightful, spirited and funny, funny, funny … with an important message: so many of us don’t realise that even if we have achieved amazing things, to have real confidence we still need to find that inner voice that says: yes, you’ve got this.
She guides us how to bring that voice out and helps us to perform, achieve and be our best every day. Absolute pleasure to have her as a chairwoman and speaker at Crew Connect Global in Manila.
